Google AdSense For Flash Games

Google announced yesterday a new AdSense programs that will allow the integration of advertisement into Flash web games. Google AdSense is an advertising program that lets content owners easily make money out of their content by connecting them to Google’s inventory of advertisements so that Google shares the advertising profits with AdSense publishers.

Previously AdSense was only available for regular and mobile web pages and it was not possible to integrate it into Flash content. The new AdSense for Games program will make it possible to have Google Adsense advertisements in the Flash game itself and that will make it much more easier for independent Flash game developers to make money out of their games.

AdSense for Games will deliver text ads, images and videos. The Advertisements will also be contextual, meaning that Google will read the text in the Flash file (thanks to Adobe’s collaboration with Google for search) and the text on the page showing the game to deliver content related to any keywords identified.

The example below shows a sample game integrating AdSense in between game stages. It is also possible to integrate advertisements so that they appear before the game begins or after the game ends.

The beta edition of the program was launched yesterday and only websites with more than 500,000 monthly game plays will be able to participate in it. I expect that when AdSense for Games officially launches it will be available to anyone regardless of monthly game play count as is the situation with regular, search, and mobile AdSense programs.
