The Night of the AdEaters

The Night of the AdEaters (first Originated in France 1981) is a worldwide ‘advertainment’ show dedicated to showcasing creative advertising from 60 different nations. The artist behind the show is Jean Marie Bouriscot. Each year he combines hundreds of novel ads from around the world into an entertaining show. The Night of the AdEaters will have two shows to be held at the Palm Gardens, Muscat InterContinental Hotel on October 24 and 25, 2007 for the first time. AutoCAD 2008 and Civil 3D 2008 Launch Event

Autodesk Middle East is collaborating with Oriental Oryx, an IT business solution provider in Oman, to hold a launch event for AutoCAD 2008 and Civil 3D 2008 here in Muscat. The seminar to be held on Sunday the 27th of May at Barr-Al-Jissah will highlight the new features of both applications used for 2D and 3D design and project planning. The Municipality of Muscat is going to hold a 3-day conference in November later this year on the policies and legislation related to the architecture and construction of cities and the challenges for maintaining a cultural identity while taking a modern approach to architecture. RealityCG CGI Workshops 2007

RealityCG, an Omani creative unit that specializes in high-end 3D computer graphics, broadcast, print and media design, is going to run a series of training workshops on various 3D design topics and techniques to promote the understanding of 3D here in Oman. The workshops are expected to cover topics such as effective polygonal modeling, lighting and shading. The first session of the CGI workshop series is expected to be setup by the end of January or the middle of February. Gulf Photo Plus has once again started working on the biggest photography event in the area: Gulf Photo Plus photography Workshops & Lectures. The 2nd Gulf Photo Plus event that is being sponsored by HP, Apple, Adobe, and Emirates Models will feature workshops and lectures by seven highly acclaimed photographers including Bryan Peterson - author of three best selling photography books on Amazon. The event will feature workshops and lectures on various photography topics including lighting, night photography, macro photography, using adobe photoshop, and marketing photography. The event that will cater both ametures and professionals will take place from the 9th to the 18th of February 2006 in Dubai Knowledge City. Tickets for the event could be purchased directly via and the website and there are early bird discounts offered for a limited time period.

Gulf Photo Plus is a quality photographic community within the GCC that has held its first event in February 2005 featuring workshops, lectures and marketing information as well. Their current website features a gallery of photos by local photographers, a sale corner, news, and competitions as well. Their latest competition has started recently and is being sponsored by GraphEast, Adobe and Salam. The deadline for the competition is September 05, there is no excuse not to participate!

The longest running Flash user conference in the world ended this year on the 8th of July. The three day long event took place in NYC and featured a variety of speakers, workshops, Q&As and other features as well. For those that did not attend the conference (including us) we advise you to visit the weblog of Michael Raichelson which features a detailed podcast coverage on each of the three days of the conference, the podcast of the 3rd day is still not online though. SIGGRAPH 2005 is a widely respected international conference of computer graphics and interactive media. It will start this year on the 31 of July and will go on for 5 days in Los Angeles, California. The conference will debate and discuss important issues regarding computer graphics industry, it will also host some of the experts in this industry to talk and share their experience.
